Privacy Policy

This page tells you what we do with the data that you give us.

What data do we collect from you?

When you join our mailing list, we collect your email address and (optionally) your name.

When you pre-register for membership, we collect your name, full address, telephone number and date of birth. We can also optionally collect you mobile number, email address, how long you've been climbing, your indoor grades, important medical information, where you found out about us and a range of preferences for marketing purposes.

When you comment on an article, we collect your name, your email address, the address of your own website (if you have one or tell us about it) and the IP address of your computer (a unique number which identifies your computer).

When you tell a friend about this site, we collect your name, your email address, your friend's name and your friend's email address.

When you use the "Contact Us" form, we collect your name, your email address, your message to us and the IP address of your computer (a unique number which identifies your computer).

If you report an objectionable post to us, we collect your name, your email address, the reason for your objection and the IP address of your computer (a unique number which identifies your computer).

If you ask us to release restricted content to you, we collect your name, your email address and the IP address of your computer (a unique number which identifies your computer).

What do we do with the data that we collect from you?

When you join our mailing list, your information is sent to our offices, where we add you to the mailing list. If you'd like to come off the mailing list at any time, just contact us.

When you pre-register, your information is securely stored until you first visit the centre, when it is used to create your centre membership. We may also use it and to send you relevant information about our services, where you have indicated that we may do so. If you don't visit us within six months of pre-registering, your information is destroyed.

When you comment on an article, we store your name, email address, comment and IP address in a database. The database is used to publish your comment on this website. Publication will include your name, a link to your website (if you told us about one) and your comment. We will never publish your email address on this website. If you post comments that breach the Terms and Conditions of Use for this website, we might take steps to prevent your IP address from using this website.

When you tell a friend about this site, we use the information that you gave us to send your friend an email. None of the data that you gave us is stored.

When you use the "Contact Us" form, we use the information that you gave us to send an email to our site administrator. The email contains your name, email address, message and IP address. This information is not stored in a database. If you send us abusive messages, we might take steps to prevent your IP address from using this website. Any email that you send us might be published on the site, but we will never publish your email address.

When you report an objectionable post to us, we first of all send an email to the address that you gave us so that we can confirm that the address is genuine. This is done so that we can communicate with you again later in the moderation process. All of the data that you gave to us is stored in a database, so that our content moderator can investigate your objection. Later, when he or she has completed the moderation process, you will be sent another email telling you the moderator's decision.

When you request restricted content from us, we first of all send an email to the address that you gave us so that we can confirm that the address is genuine. This is done so that we can then send to you the content that you requested. All of the data that you gave to us is stored in a database, but is not used for any purpose other than recording that the request was made.

What we don't do with your data

We don't publish your email address anywhere on this website.

Unless you've joined one of our mailing lists, we don't send any email to any of the email addresses that we're given, unless it's a) to verify your email address, b) in reply to a message from you or c) in order to follow up an offer of support.

We don't give any of the information that we collect to anyone else.

We don't sell any of the information that we collect to anyone else.
