Everest in one day!

Congratulations on an amazing achievement ! On the 17th March 2010 four teams from the University of Birmingham Mountaineering Club each managed to scale the height of Mount Everest from sea level to summit in just one day.

Each team had to climb a 10.5m wall in Redpoint 843 times in order to have climbed the height of Everest and all the teams succeeded, raising over £1500 for England and Wales Mountain Rescue in the process.

It was also a competition between the teams and Team 2 were the first team to complete the challenge so congratulations to Jay,Hatty, Jack, Doug, Georgie and Tess, some of whom climbed over 150 routes each!

Victorious Team 2

Rachel (post physio!)

Fastest overall Climber was Jack Brougham and Outstanding Effort Award went to Rachel Takacs who did the challenge whilst recovering from a broken ankle!

Well done to everyone - amazing effort all round. We're proud of you!
