Happy climbing!

Discover a whole new perspective...

Every day, thousands of people across the UK step outside their daily routine to go climbing. For climbers, it’s the only activity which offers it all - working out the puzzle of the route is just as important as working your muscles - and no two routes are ever the same!

It’s a totally addictive way to get fit, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re tall or short, fit or fragile, old or young - there’s always a way to make it a little bit higher.

With indoor climbing there’s no need to drive hundreds of miles and wait for good weather and we’ve got expertly set climbing routes at grades to suit all abilities, as well as the friendliest atmosphere in town.

Some climbers choose to only climb indoors and some use it as a stepping stone to even bigger outdoor adventures. Either way, climbing at Redpoint is a great place to start. Call us now to get going - once you’ve tried it, you’ll never look back!

Whatever your climbing abilities, from skills for complete beginners to advanced climbing and ropework techniques as well as qualifications and outdoor courses, Redpoint can arrange instruction for you.

Beginners’ lessons

For new climbers, or those needing a refresher, we recommend booking in with our instructors for a friendly, expert and stress-free introduction to your new favourite sport. We promise to have you flashing routes and tying figure of eight knots before you know it (but strictly at your own pace!).

Lessons work best with two or more people taking it in turns to climb and learn the necessary rope-work skills (belaying). Most novices will need two or three lessons before they have mastered the necessary skills to a sufficient standard to use the centre without supervision.

Adult instruction costs from £15 per hour per person and children's instruction is from £7.50 per hour. All private instruction is subject to a minimum charge of £30 (this can be made up of 2 adults or 1 adult and 2 Children or 4 children) If you are looking for a climbing partner to share a lesson, contact us and we’ll help you to find one. Alternatively, one to one instruction is available at £30 per hour.

Special deals available for family climbing groups, kids' instruction just £7.50 per hour. Prices include all the necessary equipment and it’s a great way to start off climbing in a safe, fun environment.

Advanced lessons

Once you’ve got off the ground, the best way to improve your technique is to climb! However, when you’ve gained a little more experience we can still offer a few tips which might help you to bridge the divide between a beginner and a confident climber. These lessons can include anything from advanced climbing techniques to mastering the skills necessary for climbing safely outdoors; simply come and see us or call to talk through what you might need.

Lead Climbing

Anyone learning to climb at Redpoint will notice that even more exciting routes are available to anyone who can 'lead' climb. Once you have mastered 'top-roped' climbing, come and talk to us about leading lessons, we can show you how to belay for leading, how and where to clip as well as strategies for the new physical and mental challenges of leading.

A perfect day

Outdoor Courses

We also run a range of outdoor courses, taking you through everything from first steps on rock to placing protection, setting up belays, abseiling and rescue techniques. Bespoke courses can be arranged to suit your needs; just get in touch with us and tell us what you want.

Climbing Qualifications

As well as the National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme, NICAS, we have training and assessment courses arranged for both the Single Pitch Award and Climbing Wall Awards. These qualifications are UK Mountain Training Board awards which are nationally recognised by the Health and Safety Executive and the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority and are essential for those wishing to supervise groups or gain employment in Outdoor Education.

Additionally, in conjuction with Marlin Training we can arrange First Aid courses specifically tailored for climbers and instructors.
