Climbing is more than just great fun!

Climbing can offer a stimulating alternative to conventional school sports as well as helping to fulfil National Curriculum requirements.

As an adventure activity, it quickly captures students’ interest, while raising self esteem, building confidence and helping them to develop teamwork and social interaction skills. Equally suitable for mainstream or students with special educational needs and adaptable to all fitness levels, climbing can be a passport to releasing your students’ potential.

We are here to help you

Our management team have a background and vast experience in mainstream and special education and can tailor sessions and courses to meet your needs. Redpoint’s Education Co-ordinator, Paula Minal, is a keen climber with over twenty years’ experience of working with students in school and on both indoor and outdoor courses.

We know that school trips require a lot of paperwork and we are here to help - we provide full risk assessments covering both the facility and the activities at the centre. We can offer help for Educational Visits Co-ordinators (EVC), with pro-forma documentation as well as skills sheets and information packs for school visits tailored to fit any school curriculum.

Schools may also want to take part in the new NICAS climbing scheme. NICAS is the first ever Nationally Accredited Indoor Climbing Award Scheme and Redpoint is the Primary Centre for the West Midlands.

As members of The Association of British Climbing Walls and associate members of the British Mountaineering Council, we work strictly to NGB guidelines and follow best practice with a safety record that is second to none. All Redpoint Instructional Staff are qualified First Aiders and have current CRB checks.

Group sessions

Our group lessons are carefully structured to take students through warming up and understanding safety to the necessary ropework skills and climbing techniques, encouraging students to set targets and achieve physically and mentally in a safe, supportive environment.

A fantastic range of climbing areas with all sorts of different angles and varying degrees of difficulty, make the centre an ideal venue for all your school trips and educational requirements from curriculum based climbing courses and sessions, to after-school clubs, reward trips and summer playschemes.

Groups can contain anywhere from 4 to 80 children and can be adapted to the needs of all age groups from around age 5 upwards. We provide enough instructors per child to make sure that everyone is given the attention and encouragement they need. Our staff are friendly, professional and experienced at communicating with their groups; working equally well with students of all abilities and levels of confidence to ensure that everyone gets the most from their experience.

Special Needs

Climbing activities are suitable for students with a variety of special educational needs. We have a wealth of experience in SEN and are very happy to work with students of every ability.

Redpoint has disabled access as well as separate disabled toilet facilities.
